Job description

As Head of the department, you will be responsible for leading a team of 2, consisting of a Senior Payroll Administrator and a Payroll Administrator, while ensuring accurate and timely processing of two monthly Payrolls (1,500+ employees at Foxtons and 100 employees at Alexander Hall).

This role will also work closely with the Finance Director advising them on all payroll related matters and regulations (e.g. national living wage regulations, pensions, salary sacrifice benefits, charitable giving, car benefits) and be responsible for transitioning the payroll function of acquired companies onto the Foxtons payroll. You will be reporting into the Finance Director with a dotted line into the HR Director. 

Foxtons has recently implemented Zellis’s Resourcelink payroll system and is in the process of updating procedures and training the team on the new system. The next step will be to provide more in-depth and higher quality analysis of department payroll costs and increasing the level of partnering done with senior stakeholders across the business so they can better understand and manage their teams’ costs.
 
In the future (1-2 years+) this role would also have the opportunity to input into the selection and implementation of a new HR system along with the HR Director and her team.

Further information on responsibilities as follows:

•Managing and supervising the payroll team of 2, mentoring them and ensuring that all employees are paid accurately and on time in accordance with company and statutory regulations
•Ensure high a level of accuracy and right first time
•Maintain excellent relationships with internal and external stakeholders
•Take ownership of issues and queries of a complex and technical nature
•Strong working knowledge of car benefits
•Manage the processing of P60s, P45s and P11ds
•Involvement in the launch of a salary sacrifice pension scheme
•Involvement in the launch of other salary sacrifice schemes e.g. payroll giving, car scheme
•Manage the processing of pension for Nest & Scottish Widow
•Keep payroll procedures up to date
•Guiding and developing the payroll team
 
Location:

•Based at the Group’s Head Office in Chiswick Business Park (next to Gunnersbury station)
•Flexible working offered with 3 days based in the office & 2 days WFH

Skills and experience required:
Technical skills - 
CIPP qualified
7+ years of payroll experience including 3+ years leading an in-house payroll function with a similar or higher number of employees on the payroll (1,500+)
A solid understanding of payroll processes, compliance practices and systems
Demonstrated success in leading and developing team members
High level of proficiency with Excel
Demonstrated experience of advising senior management on payroll regulations and payroll matters e.g. applicable of national living wage, pensions etc
Experience of using Zellis Resourcelink desirable
Softer skills - 
Able to stand back and see the big picture and comfortable to dive into the detail as required
Maturity, discretion and experience dealing with highly confidential information
Ability to make decisions and drive through solutions
Organizational and time management skills in managing multiple, diverse, and sometimes conflicting priorities
