Role Overview:
Venesky-Brown is actively seeking a dynamic and strategic Head of People to lead our strategy for excellence and innovation across our Human Resources. Reporting directly to the CEO, you will lead our Human Resource, Health & Safety, and Social Value functions, developing and implementing workforce strategies and offering high-level support to our Leadership and Management teams throughout the UK.
Leading a team in our Edinburgh office, you will provide support and development across the business, maintaining high standards and enhancing our reputation as a best-in-class employer with both our internal team and the broader recruitment industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic People Leadership:
  • Working closely with the CEO to develop the people strategy, focusing on talent acquisition, workforce development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Lead and inspire our HR function, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives that align with our business goals and enhance our employees' experience

Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development:
  • Develop and implement recruitment processes, ensuring the acquisition of top talent across the business to ensure consistency
  • Implement effective onboarding strategies and ongoing development initiatives to nurture employee growth
  • Develop a comprehensive learning and development strategy

Employee Engagement and Well-being:
  • Develop and execute programs that enhance employee engagement and well-being
  • Create a supportive work environment where our people thrive both personally and professionally

HR Process Optimisation:
  • Streamline HR processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
  • Lead performance management processes, ensuring clear communication of expectations and providing constructive feedback
  • Implement initiatives to recognise and reward outstanding contributions
  • Leverage technology and data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive improvements
  • End of year process training and oversee with leadership and senior managers
  • Act as an escalated point of contact for employee relations, providing guidance and resolution
  • Foster a positive and collaborative workplace culture

Health & Safety:
  • Develop and oversee the execution of comprehensive health and safety protocols across all company locations within the UK, ensuring adherence to legal requirements and the integration of best practices, along with meeting the specific needs of stakeholders and on-site clients
  • Oversee collaboration across departments to ensure the regular implementation of health and safety evaluations, risk analysis, and educational initiatives, fostering a secure work atmosphere for all team members
  • Offer strategic guidance and oversight to Leadership teams on health and safety issues, oversee the management of incident investigations, and ensure the seamless incorporation of health and safety policies into the broader people strategy

Social Value:
  • Represent the business across external social value initiatives in person and online.
  • Collaborate with community partners and stakeholders to identify opportunities for corporate social responsibility programs, to deliver the company’s social value strategy
  • Develop and implement initiatives that align with the company's commitment to social value, fostering a workplace culture that emphasises diversity, equality, and inclusion

Qualifications and Experience:
  • CIPD Qualified (Chartered or Fellow preferred)
  • Proven track record in senior leadership roles, showcasing strategic leadership and innovation
  • Strong background in Health & Safety
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to nurture meaningful relationships within the organisation
  • Proven ability to optimise HR processes, incorporating technology and data-driven insights
  • A strategic mindset, with the ability to align HR initiatives with broader company objectives
