Salary: £40,300 - £43,191

The Consumer Council is recruiting for three Head of Policy roles, at Deputy Principal grade, to join our Financial and Postal Services and Strategy and Emerging Markets Directorates.

As a Head of Section, you will be a member of the Consumer Council’s Wider Leadership Team (WLT). You will work with colleagues across the organisation and key stakeholders, to deliver the objectives of our Corporate Plan against statutory and non-statutory functions.

Leading a team, you will manage projects, resources and budgets to deliver an annual work programme including conducting consumer research and using the insights gained to inform, influence, develop and deliver on policy and corporate initiatives.

Working in partnership with our Board, stakeholders and industry to influence public policy and regulation, you will deliver positive outcomes for consumers and advise the Consumer Council’s WLT in your respective policy area. You will also have the opportunity to shape the organisations future strategic direction.

To succeed in this role, you should have a good understanding of the issues affecting consumers and/or businesses and have strong policy development skills alongside experience of managing budgets and staff.

We are also looking for excellent communication skills, including presenting research and evidence to non-technical audiences, and strong report writing skills.

*Please note that the role of Head of Strategy and Emerging Markets is a full-time fixed-term contract until 31 March 2025, with the potential of rolling annual extensions subject to available funding.
