Location of Role:The Key Education Centre, Havant

Head of Pupil Support and Transition-Havant Site

The Key Education Centre is an alternative provision for pupils aged 11—16 who have been excluded from mainstream school, are at risk of exclusion, are medically unwell or emotionally vulnerable and unable to attend school.  Our schools pride themselves on being abreast of current pedagogy and our work around attachment-focused and trauma informed practice is a fundamental part of our work in engaging pupils in learning experiences beyond those of the traditional curriculum, alongside providing them with the skills needed to succeed in life beyond The Key and in modern Britain.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and innovative practitioner to join our Senior Leadership Team in a new role in our structure. The post holder would be responsible for working alongside our Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour, Inclusion and Safeguarding overseeing our induction and Transition processes and working with our welfare team to support the wider needs of our pupils and families. The post holder will hold line-management responsibilities for members of our Outreach Team who work closely with our partner schools to support pupils at risk of permanent exclusion to re-engage in their learning.

In addition, the successful applicant will be required to undertake wider strategic responsibilities to ensure positive outcomes for all pupils. Applicants will demonstrate the ability to lead and manage individuals who generally work in a peripatetic fashion and establish strong working links with all the secondary schools in our area and with other relevant professional bodies, such as CAMHS and the Youth Offending service. They will possess excellent communication skills and be able to respond effectively to the intricacies of leadership.

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly-motivated and ambitious colleague to join The Key Havant’s leadership team as we continue on our learning journey as a school.

This is a full-time position with a 50% teaching allocation.
