Our client is a thriving manufacturing business with global reach, hiring for an exciting leadership role within their R&D team!

What will the role involve?

• Managing a highly respected R&D team responsible for diversifying the business' core product offering
• Identifying and exploring new commercial opportunities for the business through new products or alternative applications of existing technology
• Assessing both the commercial and technical viability of new business opportunities / technologies
• Engaging internal stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for new projects from other departments within the business
• Collaborating extensively with external partners such as spin out or start up companies, universities and relevant government agencies, to establish mutually beneficial partnerships, secure funding and facilitate research projects
• National and international business travel as required

You will ideally have…

• Technical knowledge or academic background in Physical Sciences (such as Materials Science, Physics or Chemistry)
• Experience working with coating technology (e.g. vacuum, liquid or wet coating) would be an advantage but not essential
• Proven commercial acumen with the ability to assess commercial viability of new projects, products or business concepts
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to present highly complex technical information to non-technical audiences
• Honed influencing and stakeholder engagement skills

This exciting role will suit a motivated, self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, who is comfortable taking the initiative, engaging with a variety of internal and external stakeholders and driving new projects forward!
Applicants must also be willing to undertake national / international travel as required for the role.
