Outstanding school seeks an exceptional Head of Religious Studies to join their academic leadership team. With a commitment to nurturing spiritual growth, you will guide students through GCSE Religious Studies, fostering both academic excellence and personal development.
Responsibilities:
Managing Curriculum:
- Develop and review schemes of work, ensuring effective implementation.
- Liaise with examination boards, overseeing specifications, examinations, and results.
- Implement robust assessment methods, analyse results, and adapt teaching strategies.
- Stay updated on Religious Education developments, sharing insights with colleagues.
Liaison and Administration:
- Lead co-curricular activities aligned with Religious Studies.
- Conduct regular departmental meetings and contribute to Heads of Department meetings.
- Produce annual reports on examination results and manage the departmental budget.
Spiritual Life:
- Enhance the spiritual life of the school community.
- Collaborate with the School Chaplain on charitable initiatives and community outreach.
Other Responsibilities:
- Share in supervision duties, attend parents’ evenings, staff/departmental meetings, and relevant events.
- Possible role as a Form Tutor.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
- Honours degree in a relevant subject.
- Extensive, relevant continuing professional development.
- Proven track record of outstanding RS teaching.
- Evidence of taking on additional responsibilities within a department.
- Excellent subject knowledge, up-to-date on the national curriculum
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Ability to inspire, motivate, and maintain high expectations.
- Imagination, enthusiasm, and a good sense of humour.
