Stroud is a District in Gloucestershire which has a rich and diverse landscape, built heritage and community, and is home to some of the Country’s most innovative businesses and organisations.   We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to join our team as Head ofStrategic Planning and Economic Development.  This is a key leadership role, responsible for shaping and driving the future development, sustainability and prosperity of our diverse district and its journey to carbon neutrality, leading talented teams of staff and working closely with partners, businesses and communities.

About you

As an experienced and resilient strategic planner with a focus on delivery, you will be joining a talented and high performing team that has a thirst for doing things differently. You will bring the leadership skills we need to deliver our Local Plan, Climate Change and Economic Development strategies, promoting economic investment and shaping the future prosperity and sustainability of Stroud district. This will involve driving forward major initiatives and developing trusted relationships with external stakeholders, creating new partnerships to deliver on what we’ve committed to.

Working closely with the Strategic Director of Place, you will also have regular interactions with Council Members, so will be comfortable operating in this political context.

The role requires someone who can evidence experience of working and delivering results in a high performing Planning and development related function. You will hold a membership to a relevant professional qualification. Ultimately, you will need to demonstrate that you have led a customer-focused, cost-effective service and possess strong leadership skills to guide teams to even greater success.
