Hays Technology are working in partnership with a Higher Education establishment in Birmingham to recruit a Head of Student Systems and Records on a temporary basis.
The Directorate of Student and Academic Services at this particular organisation are looking to reconfigure the ways they work; reduce silos, making better use of Systems and improving compliance with regulations, policies, and processes.
The postholder will lead and develop teams responsible for the development and enhancement of Student Systems as well as records and systems maintenance. The postholder will provide leadership for the delivery, management and development of Student records and systems including reporting requirements and systems training for staff.
The postholder will lead the Student Systems Development and Analysis Team. Their remit is to support business critical processes such as enrolment, module selection, awards, placements, regulatory reporting, timetabling and more. The core system used for these processes is the Student Information System (SITS) but the team also supports other core Student Systems including Aptem and Arc. SITS is the primary record system for the University/'s student data, and is used by staff, students, and applicants across the organisation.
Key duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for student records on multiple systems, the function of creating, deploying and maintaining reports created to support business requirements and the annual training plan to ensure systems are used correctly and staff are equipped to perform well in their roles.
- Advise on and oversee the integration of Systems and exports/imports of data.
- Oversee a schedule of upgrades and testing, ensuring that systems remain up to date.
- Ensure overall system integrity and performance, including but not limited to batched processes, system configuration, and coding and design standards.
- Oversee the ongoing creation and maintenance of systems documentation.
In order to apply for this role, you must be able to demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:
- Educated to first degree level or able to demonstrate a combination of professional qualifications, skills and experience at an equivalent level.
- Considerable previous experience in a Senior Student Systems and Records role.
- Extensive experience in the use and development of a corporate student record system, in particular SITS:Vision.
- Experience of web technologies, particularly in regard to the provision and delivery of information.
- Experience of contributing to and implementing a vision that delivers creative system solutions in response to strategy.
- Experience of managing and motivating a team of skilled staff.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, negotiate, persuade and influence.
- Experience of managing projects and successfully delivering projects to schedule, quality and budget.
- Knowledge and understanding of current issues in Higher Education.
- Demonstrate a commitment to a client-centred approach to service delivery.
