TXM Group are currently working with a leading M&E business that was formed in 1947 in Shropshire and has remained a privately owned family business ever since. With an unrivalled reputation within the building services sector, they offer a comprehensive electrical and mechanical design, installation and maintenance service across many sectors.

An exciting opportunity has presented itself for a Head of Sustainability to join the business and drive sustainable practices throughout the regional offices.

As the Head of Sustainability, you will play a pivotal role in driving the commitment to environmental responsibility and sustainability.

This role is perfect for an experienced environmental manager who is passionate about making a tangible difference in the world, one action at a time.

Role & Responsibilities:

• Implement sustainability goals, policies, and strategies aligned with my clients values.
• Own the company’s Carbon Reduction Plan.
• Drive our Scope 1, 2, and 3 agenda.
• Conduct assessments to identify areas where sustainable practices can be integrated.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including employees, suppliers, customers, and community groups, to build relationships and gather input on sustainability initiatives.
• Stay informed about relevant environmental regulations and ensure we comply with them.
• Gather data on our environmental impact, energy consumption, waste generation, and other relevant metrics.
• Analyse sustainability performance and use the data to identify areas for improvement.
• Evaluate and monitor the environmental and social impact of the supply chain i.e. embodied carbon and contract-specific Scope 3.
• Coordinate pollution control, waste management, recycling, environmental health, conservation, and renewable energy initiatives.
• Prepare sustainability reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Engage with local communities and participate in community-based sustainability projects.
• Assess the financial implications of Sustainability initiatives, including cost savings and return on investment.
• Utilise a Carbon Monitoring Tool and educate operational teams in their usage and development.
• Drive positive change in our business practices to minimise our environmental footprint and maximise sustainability efforts.

Skills & Experience

• Genuine passion for the environment and sustainability and belief in the difference a company can make.
• Demonstrable experience managing an environmental function or similar relevant field.
• Ability to promote environmental awareness and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong attention to detail for compiling accurate statistics and writing factual environmental reports.
• Commercial awareness and understanding of commercial responsibilities.
• Ability to set sustainability targets, develop plans, and oversee their delivery through effective project management.
• Formal Qualifications such as Degree/ Diploma in environmental management or similar advantageous and/or Membership of IEMA or CIWEM beneficial. This is not essential – we are after an experienced individual.
• Extensive knowledge of ISO14001.
• Full UK driving license required; occasional overnight stays may be necessary.
