Oakleaf Partnership are working with a well-established and innovative business who has UK-wide reach and sits within the manufacturing/heavy industry sector. They have an opportunity for an experienced Head of Talent & Learning to lead the learning, development and talent function across the business. The role will play a key part in driving their offering forward, modernising process and managing large budgets whilst ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. This is an exciting time to be joining the business as they have ambitious plans that align with making their industry more sustainable. The role is based in Hull and requires on-site presence.
What is the role?
As the Head of Talent & Learning, you will lead the learning, development and talent function across the business keeping safety at the heart of all strategy, whilst managing a large team of trainers across the UK. Reporting directly into the CPO, you will work closely with key stakeholders to develop and deliver high quality learning and development programmes. You will develop systems and processes that will be specific to qualifications and compliant with relevant legislation. You will manage large training and departmental budgets. There will be several key areas of focus for this role including graduate development and apprenticeships and leadership and management development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and deliver engaging and effective training and development options
- Ensure effective internal controls are in place and compliant
- Manage all training across the business
- Develop the learning and development strategy
- Manage training budgets, costs and investments
- Lead the planning, execution and monitoring of projects
- Ensure effective utilisation and management of the apprenticeship levy
- Build and lead a high-performing and engaged team
- Ensure the academy delivers value to all
- Improve the cost of training and ensure transparent reporting
- Build effective relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external
- Review and approve commercial supplier/vendor agreements and manage third party organisations
Candidate profile/experience
The successful candidate will have previous experience in a senior management position within learning and development. They will have excellent leadership and management skills, strong communication skills with the ability to influence, engage and coach teams. They will have experience of managing and developing a training centre and managing large budgets. They will have a background and understanding in heavy industry environments where safety is paramount. CIPD and training qualification is desired but not essential.
