The Honourable Society of the Inner Temple is one of the four Inns of Court, which are the professional associations for barristers in England and Wales. Dating back to the 14th Century, the Inner Temple provides an intensive training programme for students, pupils and new practitioners; CPD for established barristers; and accommodation and facilities. Central to the organisation’s values is ensuring that becoming a barrister is an achievable aspiration for all those capable of excellence, as is the promotion of ethics and integrity in the work and behaviour of barristers.
The Head of Teaching and Learning is a new key role in the Education and Training team and will provide managerial and leadership support to the Inn’s Education Programme Managers, as well as pedagogical expertise to advise on the design and delivery of our programmes.
Main impacts will be:
- Events and courses reflect pedagogical principles and best practice in educational design
- Our virtual learning environment is at the core of our educational offer and provides flexible, accessible and quality learning to our members
- The Education Delivery Teams are well led and motivated to deliver high quality engaging programmes
- There is an effective quality assurance framework in place for all educational events and courses
- A volunteering strategy is in use which focuses on engagement and quality, and values the contribution of our members and volunteers
- Candidates should have previous experience in a teaching/learning leadership role and experience of developing educational programmes and resources to meet the needs of learners, including online and blended approaches.
- You should have experience of working with volunteers in an education setting and budget management experience.
- An Education and Training qualification or equivalent by experience is essential.
- As the Inn is a membership organisation, you should be comfortable working in an environment where strategic decisions are made by committees rather than by senior management.
