Job description

Applications are invited for an experienced clinical trials project or operations manager to join the Cancer Prevention Trials Unit, part of the Wolfson Institute of Population Health.  We are looking for an exceptional candidate to join the CPTU as Head of Trial Management.  In this role, you will be responsible for the overall project management oversight for the Unit’s portfolio of Trials and provide leadership for all project funded staff.   You will provide senior level support to the project funded teams, line management of the Clinical Project Managers and provide high quality expertise in project management and Trial Management in order to ensure the Unit’s portfolio of Trials progress as per agreed milestones.  You will have extensive senior level experience in clinical research operations, having worked across the entire trial life cycle and ideally experience in providing project/programme management and oversight of complex, innovative projects. You will have expert knowledge of the regulatory requirements for conducting research and experience of conducting a wide range of Trial types including CTIMPs and clinical trials using medical devices.  You will be an experienced line manager with proven leadership skills and an ability to motivate and develop staff.    At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable.  Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers.  We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form. Benefits We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, flexible working arrangements, and campus facilities including an on-site nursery at the Mile End campus. The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus in London, with the opportunity for hybrid working arrangements. It is full-time, fixed term appointment for 12 months in the first instance.  The starting salary will be Grade 7, in the range of £61,896 - £69,114 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance. Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly. Informal enquiries should be addressed to Michelle Sleeth, CPTU Head of Operations, at m.sleeth@qmul.ac.uk.  To further details and to apply for the role, please click the 'Apply' button above.  The closing date for applications is 11 February 2024. Interviews are expected to be held shortly thereafter.
