InterQuest is currently supporting an exciting bank looking for Head of Buy-to-Let Underwriting to provide oversight of assessing and approving buy-to-let mortgage applications. You will play a crucial role in delivering the Bank’s asset growth by ensuring that underwriting decisions are compliant with lending policy, risk appetite, and regulatory requirements.

Some of the responsibilities for the role will include:

• Engaging with stakeholders to ensure that the Bank’s BTL product offering and associated underwriting meet commercial, risk, and operational service requirements.
• Leading a team of underwriters, for the assessing and underwriting of new lending applications for risk, quality and adherence with the Bank’s policies and risk appetite.
• Providing a point of contact for queries in relation to underwriting decisions from brokers/customers.
• Developing and maintaining underwriting procedures and documentation / aide memoires.

The bank is looking for someone with:

• Experience in heading up a team underwriting specialist buy to let lending applications including complex cases, differing ownership/deal structures and asset types.
• Strong Buy-to-Let lending knowledge.
• Strong understanding of regulatory requirements (BCOBS, MCOB, CONC)
• Experience in residential mortgage underwriting processes, and controls.

The role is based in Birmingham. The bank provides a good benefits package, and they offer a hybrid working pattern, with 2-3 days in the office.
