Salary & Benefits: Salary up to 120K depending on experience, executive incentive plan, car allowance or £6,000 cash incentive, private healthcare, up to 10% pension with 5% contribution, life assurance cover of 4 times pensionable salary and 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a wellness day. Location: Regionally based, this is a flexible hybrid arrangement. Our hybrid setup typically requires an average of 2-3 office or on-site days per week for this role. This could be slightly more when collaborative efforts, training or meeting deadlines demand it. For those who prefer to work on-site, our offices are open Monday-Friday during working hours.


Working Hours: Permanent. 37 hours per week Monday to Friday, expectation to participate in a senior leader standby rota.


Team Size: 90 with an expectation this will grow to meet the increase in investment in AMP8.

5.5 million people in Yorkshire rely on the services we provide. Every day over 2 million homes across the region return over 1 billion litres of Wastewater, which we collect, treat and recycled through 53,000 KM of pipework. Where you fit in:


As our Head ofAsset Management, you will be:

  • Creating and leading a high performing team with a clear vision, objectives, and accountabilities.
  • Promoting an efficient and effective TOTEX programme, based on the TOTEX hierarchy to the value of £4 bn to deliver performance and service in line with commitments to our customers, maximising value through our six capitals approach.
  • Optimisation of the asset plan through performance monitoring, investigation and risk management, identification and implementation of sustainable Asset Management cycle solutions i.e. people, plant, digital, procedures etc based on statistical data and Principal Engineering expertise.
  • Lead technical disciplines and Asset Sponsors to enable delivery of investment schemes, engaging with the engineering teams to get the best solution for our customers and colleagues.
  • Maturing the Asset Management process in YW and being a key stakeholder in the improvement of our asset base through implementing global best practice.
  • Designing and implementing fit for purpose processes that make it simpler for colleagues, better for the environment and provide greater value for customers.
  • Maintaining and developing key relationships with stakeholders including regulators.
  • The collation, interpretation and audit of data for performance commitments related to asset health, infrastructure performance and compliance measures.
  • Develop operational interventions with our engineering function to mitigate service and performance failures, through technical support processes and the approval of funding.
  • Together with the Strategy and Regulation team contributing to long term strategies and investment plans, whilst driving ‘in AMP’ strategies to seek step changes in operational performance.
  • Driving a culture of continuous improvement, with the right levels of coaching, training, and support for all colleagues.

What skills & qualifications you will need:


  • Proven track record of leading a large Asset Management function in a Utilities setting.
  • Has created and landed large investment programmes that out-perform investment profiles and service expectations.
  • Ability to think strategically across a broad range of complex topics to lead transformational change.
  • A track record of supporting and challenging cross functional, service driven, O&M operations to get the best for the business.
  • Demonstrable experience of creating high performing, engaged and capable teams.
  • Strong presentational, strategic, regulatory and continuous improvement experience capabilities.
  • Proven ability to implement effective governance and KPI frameworks with effective risk and issue management.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementing efficiency and effectiveness improvements.

You will also benefit from having:

  • Experience of working in a regulatory environment that deliver better services, lower costs, and increased revenues.
  • Experience of coaching and training and developing management cohorts.
