HEAD PASTRY CHEF - PASTRY SECTION

The Flour Pot Bakery is a family owned independent artisan bakery in Brighton & Hove, specialising in long fermented sourdough, yeasted breads and viennoiserie. We serve our own Flour Pot shops in the city and a growing wholesale customer base that appreciate the best quality hand-crafted products.

Job Role:

As the Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and mentoring our pastry team to achieve exceptional results
  • Developing new pastry recipes and improving existing ones
  • Ensuring the highest standards of quality, taste, and presentation in all pastries
  • Overseeing inventory management and ordering of pastry supplies
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and efficient pastry kitchen
  • Execute recipe processes and techniques to ensure consistency and quality
  • Properly train and direct incoming pastry team members
  • Keeping an open channel of communication with the Head Baker and company management
  • Maximise efficiency in all areas of production and execute proper time management during shifts
  • The ability to work gracefully in a high-volume & fast-paced workplace
  • The ability to problem solve and work to the highest efficiencies

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role (2 years preferable)
  • A passion for baking and a keen eye for detail
  • Creativity and the ability to innovate with new pastry concepts
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices

This is based on a 45 hour week contract, 5 days per week, Monday - Sunday.
