Location - London or Winchester (minimum in-office time expectation is 40%, with Tuesday as the team day)

In 2020 LCP launched our Heath Analytics practice, providing analytical and research services for organisations across the life sciences and healthcare industries. Our team brings together clinicians, statisticians, epidemiologists, health economists, bioinformaticians and Health Data scientists alongside our established actuarial, analytics and technology teams to deliver new solutions to the fundamental challenges in health.

We have been growing the team quickly in response to the demand we are seeing for the innovative service offerings we have developed, and now have an exciting opening for a Health Data Engineer to join the team.

What do we do?

LCP’s Health Analytics team works across the healthcare and life sciences markets, combining health expertise with innovative approaches from our work in other sectors to tackle leading health issues.

Examples of the types of projects that you will be working on include:

  • Developing ETL pipelines for dashboards projects.
  • Support with data, networking, and technical infrastructure management.
  • Support ongoing disaster recovery and business continuity plans using Azure's backup and recovery services.
  • Support with the deployment of analytics and machine learning workflows to identify and predict trends in healthcare demand and supply.
  • Contributing to Real world evidence studies using electronic healthcare records, registries, biobanks, and databases

What will you be doing?

As an Associate ConsultantHealth Data Engineer you will be involved in a diverse range of projects, covering both client and non-client work. Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Assess, onboard, organise and document Health Data from a variety of sources
  • Support the team with data management, including database management, ETL and wrangling data
  • Building and maintaining data pipelines
  • Proactively identifying opportunities for innovation and areas for improvement across data management and pipelines
  • Contributing to client projects as and when needed

What skills, experience and qualities are we looking for?

  • Experience in a Data Engineering role (or similar) in the UK healthcare and/or life sciences industry
  • Analytic familiarity with electronic health records and other sources of real-world and open Health Data
  • A 2:1 degree or better in a relevant subject (e.g. Computer science, data science)
  • Familiarity with Health Datasets and must have programming experience in SQL and Python. PySpark and/or R programming skills are desirable
  • Experience with Azure Cloud Services, particularly Azure Data Factory, Databricks, SQL server/SQL databases, and Storage Accounts. Experience with Azure DevOps would be beneficial
  • Working experience in designing and developing ETL data pipelines
  • Working experience in designing and implementing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • For you to embrace and enjoy working as part of a small dynamic team, comfortable leading on day-to-day project activities with support from seniors
