We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Health Care Administrator / Administrative Assistant with experience of carrying out administration duties, who has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate well to children/young people, parents and adults.
Swalcliffe Park School provides specialist residential education and care for up to 70 secondary aged boys (10-19 yrs) all of whom are on the Autism Spectrum. Working as a Health Care Administrator / Administrative Assistant you will provide professional and efficient administration and clerical support to the Health Care Manager and Health Care function of the school.
The Health Care Team provides medical support to students and, in conjunction with the wider pastoral team, meets a wide range of day to day needs; from the physical needs of some pupils and the administration of first aid or medication, to guiding students and liaising with members of the Therapy, Residential Care and Education Teams, for students who need psychological support.
DUTIES
Your duties as a Health Care Administrator / Administrative Assistant include:
- Administer medication as directed by the Health Care Manager; training will be provided
- Administer First Aid and emergency medication when required
- Ensure appropriate documents and students electronic medical records are appropriately organised, maintained, kept up to date, and OFSTED compliant
- Perform general office duties such as answering calls of a medical nature, filing medical notes, photocopying and responding to enquiries
- Keep student medical profiles/care plans up to date, reviewing these on a termly basis
- Monitor, check and replenish medical stock supplies and medications within the Medical Centre, Emergency medications and within all the residential houses
- Monitor First Aid kits, replenishing items used or expired items
- Support the Health Care Manager in collecting medicines from pharmacies or dropping off prescriptions to pharmacies
- Support the Health Care Manager in escorting students to their medical appointments when requested
- Assist with the dissemination of health promotion resources within the school, including creating displays for information for students and staff
- Communicate to the Health Care Manager areas of concern/ or for development
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, their families, Therapy teams, Educational staff, Residential Care staff and Support Services teams
- Ensure that the medical policies, procedures and practice for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children are followed effectively
- Ensure the Medical Room area is safe for students and Health & Safety policies and procedures are applied and complied with
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
The Health Care Administrator / Administrative Assistant will have:
- Experience of administration duties
- Work as part of our staff team in a flexible and professional manner
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate well to children/young people, parents and other adults, both face to face and over the telephone
- Have excellent self-organisation skills and the ability to use own initiative
- A willingness to be trained to administer basic First Aid and emergency medication
- Be willing to use their skills to support and enhance all aspects of school life
