Health & Fitness Instructor

Randstad has an exciting opportunity supporting a client within the Education sector to deliver fitness classes and activities across its university campus.

Reporting to the Sports Services Coordinator the successful candidate will become part of the team who will be responsible for fitness inductions, fitness classes, programming, promotion, service delivery & membership sales.

This is a full time, fixed term 6 month contract commencing immediately with a contract completion expected for August 2024.

Requirements:

• Fitness Instructor’s Award or equivalent. Coaching qualifications in 2 or more sporting disciplines essential
• Experience within the fitness industry including marketing of facilities, promoting and delivering classes and exercise programmes essential
• Experience of a computerised sports management system & IT computer literacy essential
• Prior experience within the preparation of individual programmes in fitness and strength and conditioning, in order to assist in the development of clubs and of individual performances desirable
• Previous experience of risk assessment/health and safety regulations.
• Proven experience of maintaining fitness equipment desirable
• Awareness of current market place within the Health & Fitness sector
• An awareness of funding opportunities and marketing promotions within sport
• Enthusiastic approach with the ability to develop teamwork and encourage participation.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise use of the gym, strength zone, studio and all fitness activities at the Belfast campus, ensuring the safety of users at all times
• Consult with the Sports Services Officer and as a leading member of the sports team on the Belfast campus, to coordinate the planning and delivery of physical activity & sport programmes through classes and appropriate coaching programmes for students, staff and external users of the university’s facilities.
• Develop relations with student club officials and representatives and develop
• detailed plans for the provision of quality coaching and fitness programmes
• To take responsibility for the coordination of all induction classes in both the fitness suite and the strength zone, and train and supervise any additional/casual staff required to work in this area.
• Initiate and organise new business, sales opportunities, promotion events and increase participation & engagement, as set by agreed targets.
• Produce individual programmes (Personal/Performance training plans) and other proposals to meet the fitness requirements and strength and conditioning needs of clubs, individuals and outside groups.
• Assist with risk assessments and rendering first aid as required
• Reception/Cashier duties using a computer booking system also including the booking of facilities and checking membership/student cards.
• Distribution, erection, dismantling and retrieval of equipment. Checking equipment and areas for defects, reporting such defects to the Departmental office.
• Supervise and check the cleaning of sports, fitness studio and other areas including changing rooms, toilets, corridors and stairwells and equipment within the campus areas on a daily basis.
