Job description

This is a Fixed term post for 2 years.
Renfrewshire HSCP's Planning and Health Improvement Service are recruiting a 2 year fixed term WTE Band 5 Health Improvement Practitioner. The post holder will have responsibility for a broad portfolio of Health Improvement and health inequalities work in line with the Renfrewshire HSCP Strategic Plan, NHSGG&C and Scottish Government’s Health Improvement priorities and local health needs.
The post holder will have a key role in building capacity of staff within the HSCP and Partner Organisations in relation to the Health Improvement agenda.
This post will work closely with the Renfrewshire Alcohol and Drug Partnership, including statutory, third sector partners, recovery communities, and people with lived/ living experience to improve the health of those affected by alcohol and drug use. You will work closely with the HI Lead and ADP Support Team/Drug Death Prevention Lead to implement local and national policy, including the National Mission on Drug Deaths Plan.
The role will support the co-ordination and delivery of naloxone training to professionals, people at risk, and their families. You will contribute to the development of a naloxone outreach programme, aimed at equipping people with lived experience with the skills to provide training to their peers.
The post holder will implement Health Improvement campaigns targeting people affected by alcohol and Drugs, and the general population to educate about harm reduction initiatives, which will be led by local need. This will include the ongoing development and review of harm reduction-related resources available in Renfrewshire.
Applicants must be educated to degree level or have equivalent in a relevant discipline. Applicants are expected to demonstrate proven experience of working in Health Improvement, Public Health or a relevant Health Improvement area and be able to demonstrate skills in line with the Public Health Skills and Knowledge Framework (2016).
