Scantec FMCG Recruitment are working in partnership with a leading FMCG Food Manufacturer on the Isle Of Bute to assist in their search for a Health & Safety Manager. This is an exciting new role into the site (currently being covered by an Interim until a permanent candidate is found).  

You will have the opportunity to really put your stamp on the role. It’s a crucial leadership role responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive health and safety programmes and this position aims to create a safe and healthy work environment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and fostering a culture of safety consciousness. You would have a team of 2x direct reports on site.  

Hours: 

8.30am - 4.30pm Monday to Friday

Health & Safety Manager – Key Accountabilities: 

  • Design, implement, and manage robust health and safety programs, policies, and procedures. 
  • Develop and promote a safety culture that encourages employees at all levels to prioritize safety. 
  • Stay abreast of health and safety regulations and standards, ensuring the organization's compliance. 
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies, conducting audits, and addressing compliance matters. 
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement proactive measures to mitigate risks 
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. 
  • Develop and oversee emergency response plans, ensuring all employees are trained and familiar with procedures 
  • Conduct drills and exercises to test the effectiveness of emergency response protocols. 
  • Lead internal and external safety audits, ensuring adherence to established safety standards. 
  • Establish and manage an efficient incident reporting system. 
  • Conduct thorough investigations of incidents, accidents, and injuries, and implement corrective actions. 
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as operations and maintenance, to ensure safety considerations are integrated into processes and equipment. 

Skills & Experience required: 

We’re seeking an experienced Health & Safety Manager with at least 3 years in a managerial capacity. Ideally holding a Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. NEBOSH or IOSH certification or equivalent. In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and standards.
