Hackney Council's Building Maintenance Teams work streams are rapidly expanding, we are looking for a qualified H&V Engineer to increase our direct workforce. We are looking for individuals to help us maintain the properties we look after. Your role will be to carry out to a high standard all aspects of servicing, repairs, maintenance and installation of commercial gas hot water and heating systems and appliances in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations 1998. You will also be required to undertake a broad range of multi-skilled repair activities outside of the basic trade such as minor plumbing, electrical and finishing works to provide a comprehensive repair service.
You will need to have a reasonable level of fitness as some of the work is physically demanding, you may need to climb ladders and lift heavy objects. You will need to work on your own initiative, be able to manage your time and take pride in your work. You will need experience in repairs and maintenance perhaps for a Housing Association, Local Authority or as a contractor working in tenant’s homes. You will need to hold a full UK driving licence (with no more than three penalty points) as we will provide you with a work vehicle. To be able to do this work, you need to have a NVQ or City & Guilds qualification and/or relevant experience in your specific trade. You will also need to have IT skills as you may be using a handheld device to record your work.
