Class 2 HGV Driver
The postholder will be responsible for transporting goods for clients, often working with a high tech, modern fleet. All postholders must ensure the safe collection and delivery of materials in line with all operational, health & safety and other regulatory requirements.
All drivers will be required to dress and behave in a professional manner to positively represent KB Event and its values . This role will be based at our Wandsworth, London site.
Duties & Responsibilities
- To ensure that the collection and delivery of clients owned or leased property to the appropriate location within given timeframes.
- To undertake daily walkaround checks and ensure that any defects are reported, and appropriate action taken
- To ensure that any vehicle that is driven by the postholder is roadworthy, in a great state of cleanliness and repair and for purpose
- To have responsibility for ensuring all loads are safely secured and stored to minimise damage or movement, as well as coupled up securely – and that all paperwork is accurate
- To ensure that all items within the cab are safely stowed and secured, and that a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained at all times
- To deliver above average customer service to clients and their representatives
- To act as a role model whilst working or whilst on tour, and as a positive representative of the company.
- To ensure that no unnecessary risks are taken when driving – this includes never driving whilst drugs (prescription or otherwise) remain in the postholder’s system and would negatively impact driving ability in anyway – including reaction times or fatigue.
- To ensure that the postholder does not drive after consuming any alcohol.
- To report any risks involving the safety of other drivers or equipment to the Transport Operations Manager, in a timely manner.
- To maintain the highest levels of Health & safety standards, reporting and record keeping.
- To ensure effective timekeeping and to log in accurately on any systems to ensure a record can be kept of time worked.
- To ensure the legal and compliant use of tachograph cards.
- To comply with Drivers’ Hours regulations.
- To undertake fuel efficient driving and minimise accidents and damage to trailers, property and units.
- To attend all staff meetings and training as required.
- To adhere to all risk assessments, safe operating procedures, policies and standards at all times.
To be able to work flexible working patterns which may require prolonged periods away from home.
Personal Specification
- Fully qualified Vocational Licence (Class 2) is essential
- Postholders must have and maintain a Driver CPC card.
- Experience of working in the Events industry (music and / or corporate events) would be advantageous but is not essential.
- A driver CPC card attained in an EU member state is desirable.
- Lefthand drive experience is desirable.
- A professional approach is paramount, as is with a strong work ethic and a focus on delivering a high-quality service.
- Due to the nature of some of the work, all postholders must be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Proven experience of a can-do, positive and enthusiastic attitude is critical.
- Good IT skills to be able to use mobile apps and other systems for vehicle checks, and other reporting requirements.
- Strong and up to date knowledge of driver compliance rules and regulations.
- A good level of spoken and written English due to the client facing communication that is critical to this role
This role will be based at our Wandsworth, London site and involves Class 2 driving all around the UK and Europe.
