HGV Driver and Operative – START ASAP!

This position predominantly involves manual operative tasks, with 15% of the responsibilities dedicated to driving. We are actively seeking an individual with qualifications and experience in Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV) driving.

Role context

Over the last decade, our client has grown significantly and continues to expand its portfolio of works requiring a dedicated team and resource to enable our client to deliver the best possible service to all clients. Our client undertakes works to restore some of the most important and historic buildings in London such as the ‘National Gallery’ and the ‘Bank of England’.

Role purpose

This role will support the team through loading, unloading, driving, and operating of truck mounts, MEWPS, company lorries and vehicles whilst supporting their on-site teams with various tasks involved with cleaning and restoring of buildings.

Key Responsibilities

• Driving and operating truck mounts, MEWPS and company lorries and vehicles.
• Loading, unloading, and strapping down of vehicles.
• Ability to complete thorough vehicle checks for road worthiness.
• Assisting specialists in completion of their duties and on-site support.
• Disseminating health and safety information and documents ensuring all is completed and compliant.
• Responding to enquiries.
• Working and communicating well within a team.
• Meeting clients and fostering relationships.

Essential skills, experience, and requirements

• MUST HAVE previous HIAB/truck mount experience.
• MUST HAVE a category C driving licence/Class 2 (with C+E/Class 1 Highly desirable).
• MUST BE comfortable working at height as their Truck mounts have a reach over 50 metres.
• MUST BE willing to work nights and weekends.
• IPAF - Experience operating truck mount platforms category 1b (with 3a and 3b desirable).
• MUST BE able to work flexibly including nights, early mornings and weekends as required.
• Excellent communication skills.
• IPAF 3a, 3b and 1b desirable, but not essential.
• A CSCS card is desirable, but not essential.

Salary and benefits

Day working will attract a salary of £40,000 - £45,000 p.a. paid monthly.

• Working Hours: 40 hours per week – a standard 8am – 5pm day.
• Overtime (Weekends and Out of Hours): 1.5 times for weekend work and for any time between 10pm and 6am.
• Annual Leave: 21 days holiday + one extra day holiday for every full year of employment up to a maximum of 25 days + Bank and public holidays. Our client shuts down over the Christmas period.
• Birthday Leave: 1 day holiday given each year for you to take your birthday off or the following Monday if it falls on a weekend.
• Pension: A contributory group personal pension scheme run via Scottish Widows.
