Higher Scientific Officer Natural Sciences

The current post on offer is within a work area that contributes to the: conservation of Northern Ireland’s finest landscapes; conservation of natural heritage through direct action and development of management measures to reduce adverse impacts from wildfires; sustainable development through influencing the planning and management of landscapes; supports others to protect and enhance natural heritage through grant aid; promotes and supports access to and enjoyment of the countryside; provides advice on landscape issues pertaining to strategic development plans and development management plans; and the development and support of projects to facilitate peatland restoration. .

Applicants must, by the closing date for applications:A bachelor degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant (please refer to the CIB) scientific discipline.

AND A minimum of two years professional level experience associated with the conservation or assessment of our natural environment (ecosystems, habitats, species, earth science or landscapes) (please refer to the CIB)

OR A HND qualification or equivalent in a relevant (please refer to the CIB) scientific discipline.

AND A minimum of three years professional level experience associated with the conservation or assessment of our natural environment (ecosystems, habitats, species, earth science or landscapes) (please refer to the CIB)

AND A full driving licence, valid for Northern Ireland, that will enable the candidate to carry out the duties of the post in full.

The Panel will carry out an objective evaluation of the breadth and depth of information provided by candidates in response to eligibility criterion 1b or 2b.
