Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an 8a clinical psychologist to join the Learning Disability team within Stockport CAMHS. We provide a mental health service to children with moderate to severe learning disabilities and their families up to the age of 18. We are a small multidisciplinary team which currently includes a clinical lead/principal clinical psychologist, mental health practitioner and psychiatrist. We are based within the wider CAMHS team and work closely with nursing colleagues in the Children's Community Learning Disability team.
The Stockport CAMHS team are a welcoming team who value clinical psychology. We have a strong well-being ethos with well-being leads, and a supportive, compassionate culture.
Although this is an 8a post, we actively welcome newly qualified psychologists or clinical psychology trainees qualifying in 2024 to apply at Band 7 and enter onto our preceptorship programme. This will support your development as a psychologist with clear aims and formal sign off by the care hub lead for psychological therapies. We are committed to the development of our staff and this process supports clinicians to progress in their careers.
The post holder will use a range of assessment and intervention skills to work with the psychological needs of this client group. There will be opportunity to offer psychological consultation in a range of settings. There are also opportunities to contribute to training, and to the development of the service. You will be supported in clinical development by in house training programmes and access to additional training, in addition to receiving supervision from the principal clinical psychologist who works in the team.
Why Pennine Care CAMHS?
We are passionate about staff well-being and compassionate leadership in the CAMHS Care Hub. Our staff survey results support this:
“The results show that staff in CAMHS feel they are trusted to do their job. They enjoy working in their team and feel they make a difference to service users. They feel listened to by their managers who they believe value their work” (2021)
We support staff to work flexibly and recognise and respect the roles our colleagues hold outside of their working hours.
Equality, diversity and inclusion is at the top of our agenda. We believe that a diverse, inclusive and engaged culture is vital; that everyone’s value should be recognised and respected.
We proactively challenge injustices, and are the only Trust in the North West to publicly recognise our commitment to becoming anti-racist and supporting our transgender and non-binary colleagues. We also have thriving staff networks to make sure everyone has a voice.
We are committed to staff development and have an extensive psychological therapies training programme
Our trust values are:
Kindness
Fairness
Ingenuity
Determination
We are looking for clinical psychologists committed to these values to join us and work within our CAMHS services
Does this sound like you? If so we’d love you to join us.
