Job description

A Vacancy at Northumbria Healthcare - NHCT Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.
An exciting and challenging opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic person to become part of the Lung Function service at Northumbria-Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Respiratory Physiologist to work with us, to provide a high quality of care to all of our patients Trust wide.
You will need to have the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. In addition, the flexibility to work around clinic times is essential.
You will be required to perform a large and varied range of lung function and sleep diagnostic tests. As well as carrying out clinical investigations, the role will include service development; providing supervision and ongoing education for other members of staff. You must have either BSc in Clinical Physiology, ARTP certification or equivalence, as well as evidence of CPD. RCCP registration is desirable for this post. Flexibility, team-working ability and good organisational skills are key to this post.
We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. High quality patient care is at the heart of everything we do and we strive to ensure every single patient and service user has an exceptional experience with us. We have one of the most extensive patient experience programmes of any trust in England.
The successful candidate will need to be experienced in diagnostic tests such as spirometry, lung volumes, gas transfer, skin tests, challenge testing, and walk tests. To be involved in sleep study set up/analysis, CPAP issue, maintenance and patient support. To perform physiologist led sleep clinics as well as supporting consultant led. To offer support for all clinical needs, provide a service for specialties outside of respiratory medicine and to be involved in research investigations.
