We have a great opportunity for experienced Highway Management Engineers to join our dedicated team. This exciting and challenging role is part of a small team who are responsible for delivering excellent public services to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the roads, footpaths and bridleways in Solihull.

Currently helping to make big things happen – like the High-Speed 2 Rail network, M42 Junction 5a, our housing growth programme as set out in the draft Local Plan. With plans to bringing forward exciting commercial and residential develops at Birmingham Airport, the N.E.C. and Arden Cross development there are plenty of interesting projects to be involved with.
The Highway Management team forms part of the wider Highway Management Group and this post will report to the Strategic Lead officer. The wider group also deliver Sustainable Travel, Parking and Enforcement Services, Urban Traffic Control and our Highway Permitting functions, all who contribute to managing one of the best performing highway networks in the country.

To meet the challenge and be successful in the role you will have (please refer to the Job and Person specification for full details):
- HNC or above in an Engineering or another relevant subject
- Detailed knowledge and experience of traffic management and statutory requirements.
- .Relevant experience of managing engineering, highway or construction related projects
- Experience of supervising site teams.
- Experience of Partnership working, able to demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and build relationships with a wide range of audiences and stakeholders.
