Job description

We have an amazing opportunity for a Permanent Highways Administrator to join our Staffordshire County Council account in Stafford.


Amey is working in partnership with Staffordshire County Council since 2014, to manage and maintain the county’s highways infrastructure. We deliver infrastructure services across 6,000KM of Staffordshire by providing maintenance to road, cycle routes, bridges, tunnels, lighting, drainage, traffic signals, trees, and land. By carrying out such works we aim to improve and provide effective highways services for the local residents and communities of Staffordshire.


A Highways Administrator provides support to the Operational Control Room ensuring programmed works are permit compliant, across all depots and workstreams, along with the creation of statutory undertaker packs that are distributed in a timely and effective manner.


The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week.


You will be responsible for:

  • Assist in the preparation of reports and documents, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Attend meetings and actively contribute by sharing ideas and opinions.
  • Provide support in project administration, including organising project timelines and maintaining records.
  • Coordinate additional projects as needed, demonstrating strong organisational skills.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to achieve project goals and deliverables.
  • Take initiative to identify opportunities for process improvement and suggest innovative solutions.
  • Prioritise tasks effectively and meet deadlines consistently.
  • Demonstrate adaptability and flexibility in handling changing priorities.
  • Conduct research and analyse data to support project strategies.
  • Problem-solve and think critically to overcome obstacles and achieve project objectives.

Skills

  • The ability to Organise, Plan and Communicate effectively
  • Competent in Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Detailed Awareness of NRSWA and Permitting – desirable
  • Problem Solving

Experience

  • Experience of working on a Highways Maintenance Contract - desirable
  • Detailed highways operational knowledge
  • Previously worked in administration
