Highways Drainage Driver Operative

The Highway Maintenance team are responsible for the routine maintenance of the roads, footway, signs and lines and drainage assets across Swindon which is set to increase 30% over the next five years as the Council delivers ambitious expansion plans, which are required to facilitate the growth and regeneration of Swindon. This provides homes, jobs, recreational opportunities and a high-quality environment for residents, visitors and employers alike.

Your next role

As a Drainage Driver-Operative, you will be required to carry out all types of drainage maintenance work associated with the highway asset throughout the Borough.

You should be prepared to work in all weather and you could be asked to take part in an out of hour’s standby rota attending emergency situations to assess and repair and to deliver our Winter Service Programme.

There may be opportunity for this role to work overtime as and when required.

A driving licence is essential.

You must be fluent in the English language (as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act – for the performance of a customer facing role.
