Job Title: Senior Highways Drainage Engineer
Location: Oxford
Rate: £46 - £48 per hour umbrella
A Local Authority in Oxford is seeking an experienced Senior Drainage Engineer to join as an Interim Highways Drainage Engineer. As a crucial member of the team, the successful candidate will play a key role in fulfilling the responsibilities of the Lead Local Flood Authority (LLFA) and Highways Authority (HA). The position involves working on major/high-risk planning applications, providing technical advice on developer LLFA strategies and designs, securing planning application conditions, and collaborating with various teams within the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responding to Local Planning Authority (LPA) major/high-risk planning applications
- Providing technical advice on and approvals of developer LLFA strategies and designs
- Securing planning application conditions/consenting and s106 contributions
- Collaborating across the organization with related teams to meet LLFA responsibilities
- Leading a small locality team
- Assessing drainage and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) design in line with national and local standards
- Effective communication with planners and developers on behalf of the LLFA
Essential Experience:
- Substantial experience and demonstrated skill in providing high-quality technical advice for planning applications, consultations, consents, and road agreements within local government contexts
- Collaboration with partners and stakeholders while adhering to consultation timescales/deadlines
- Demonstrable experience in interpreting drainage designs using Innovyze MicroDrainage or similar application software
- Substantial knowledge and demonstrated application of policies, standards, and legislation related to the LLFA function, especially in planning
