Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Highways Inspector to join our talented team in Derby to work on the A50 DBFO Maintenance contract. The successful candidate will undertake various network inspections, supervise maintenance and subcontractor works. You will also be part of the on-call duty officer rota for incidents on the A50.
What you'll be doing
- Carry out network inspections to identify defects and create work orders.
- Carry out site audits, field and network safety inspections.
- Provide routine and specialist surveys, including night lighting patrols.
- Supervise works undertaken by the workforce and subcontractors.
- Provide assistance with the production of road traffic orders.
- Be part of the rota for an out of hours duty officer for winter maintenance and emergency response.
- Maintain road space requirements and Network Occupancy requirements.
- Manage abnormal loads.
- Deputise for the Route Manager when required.
- Assist with the production of a carbon calculator and environmental KPIs.
Who we're looking for

- Good communication skills
- Full driving licence (essential)
- Awareness of highway contracts & works (desirable)
- CSCS, CITB (desirable)
- Willing to work unsociable hours when required.
