About The Role

Working Hours: 35 Hours per week

Contract Type: Full-Time, Apprenticeship

Closing Date: 06 March 2024


Are you interested in the construction working on the highway? Do you want a career with Manchester City Council? working for one of the largest councils outside of London?. If so, we can offer you a fantastic start in your career path.

We will work with you to gain your qualification, providing on the job experience with our skilled craft operatives, in addition we will support you whilst you study at college one day a week. Our employees provide an excellent learning environment encouraging apprentices to reach the full of their ability.

This position will provide you with all the skills required to work on the highway and excel in a construction discipline.


About the role
  • Deal effectively with requests for service within designated timescales and maintain accurate records.
  • Work with other Council departments, partner agencies, sub contractors and external parties, to deliver frontline services in line with Council strategy.
  • Ensure the maintenance and security of all plant, transport and equipment, including the completion of daily maintenance and safety checks and the production and submission of records, all in accordance with set procedures.
  • Ensure that all plant, transport and equipment is operated in a safe and appropriate manner.
  • Personal commitment to continuous self development and service improvement.
  • Through personal example, open commitment and clear action, ensure diversity is positively valued, resulting in equal access and treatment in employment, service delivery and communications.
  • Apply a range of knowledge, technical expertise and skills, to safeguard residents, visitors and businesses through the provision of a safe highway network.
  • Through the application of technical expertise and highway construction based skills, maintain consistently high levels of productivity while ensuring the quality standards expected of a high quality, cost effective frontline service.
