About The Role
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic teacher of History to deliver high quality lessons across the key stages from September 2024. If you are an excellent classroom practitioner, who is flexible, dedicated and passionate about delivering exceptional learning experiences, then we want to hear from you.
We require an individual who can help build upon the success of the department and teach a student-focussed curriculum that allows our pupils to achieve their best possible outcomes. A willingness and enthusiasm to teach other humanities subjects would be an advantage, as part of a flexible and dynamic faculty.
The successful candidate will become part of a progressive team, who are constantly at the heart of developments to promote excellence in the classroom. There is a very decisive shared approach, where everyone feels supported and works as a coherent and highly energised department.
At key stage 3, topics include, Year 7 Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, The Power of the Church, Medieval England, Tudor England and the Reformation. Year 8 topics are Stuart England, English Civil War and Cromwell, Victorian and Industrial Britain, The Slave Trade and Civil Rights in the US. In Year 9 topics covered Empire & the Causes of the First World War, the First World War, Inter-War Years, the Second World War and the Holocaust.
At GCSE, the department follows the Edexcel B Modules of; Medicine Through Time, Anglo-Saxon and Norman England, The American West & Weimar & Nazi Germany.
We welcome applications from high quality practitioners to join Paignton Academy. The successful candidate should have Qualified Teacher status and have an up-to-date knowledge of developments in History. The post would equally suit an Early Careers Teacher or experienced teachers looking for their next challenge.
