Job description

Academic Appointments work in partnership with several special needs and alternative provisions across Yorkshire (Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate and Sheffield) to provide specialist HLTAs on a temporary and sometimes permanent basis.

One particular partner school require a qualified and/or experienced HLTAs to be available ASAP, on going. 

This is a ‘Good’ school, with a strong and effective leadership team in place to ensure that the school achieves excellence. Their aim is to challenge and inspire its students to achieve their full potential. You might like to know that the school is described by staff as an excellent place to work and learn.

Requirements:

  • Must hold HLTA Status or a degree and experience teaching SEN pupils  
  • Recent experience in SEN schools is essential
  • 2x references
  • A valid DBS or willing to obtain one
  • A qualification or other relevant training within Special Needs (eg. Team Teach, Makaton, Moving & Handling) would be an advantage but not essential

Whilst working on supply you will experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour, so you must be confident and engage effectively with pupils who display this behaviour and keep them focused on their academic work.
