As a Hoist Operator, you will be responsible for operating hoisting equipment to lift and transport materials and personnel vertically within construction sites. Your role is crucial in ensuring the safe and efficient movement of materials, tools, and workers, contributing to the overall success of construction projects.
Responsibilities of the Hoist Operator are:
- Operate hoisting equipment, such as construction elevators, personnel hoists, or material hoists, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Lift and transport materials, tools, and personnel to designated locations on construction sites.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines related to hoist operations.
- Conduct pre-operation checks on hoisting equipment to ensure functionality and safety.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or safety concerns immediately.
- Determine load capacities and ensure that loads are properly balanced and secured.
- Coordinate with ground personnel to safely load and unload materials and personnel.
- Communicate effectively with ground personnel, crane operators, and other team members to coordinate hoisting activities.
- Use two-way radios or other communication devices to relay important information.
- Conduct routine maintenance checks on hoisting equipment.
- Report any maintenance needs or issues to the appropriate personnel.
- Be prepared to respond quickly to emergency situations, such as power failures or equipment malfunctions.
- Follow established emergency procedures to ensure the safety of all individuals on the hoist.
- Maintain accurate records of hoisting activities, including daily logs and inspection reports.
- Stay updated on relevant safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Attend training sessions and workshops as required.
Qualifications for the Hoist Operator are:
- Certification or license as a Hoist Operator and CSCS Card.
- Living in the Westminster borough preffered.
- Previous experience operating hoisting equipment on construction sites is preferred.
- Knowledge of hoisting equipment operation, load capacities, and safety protocols.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions.
- Physical fitness and manual dexterity.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
