ABOUT YOU

Are you an experienced designer? Do you have a multi-product creative eye within Home & Gifting? Does the idea of designing show-stopping personalised gifts excite you? If so, working as the Home Gifting Designer at Made Yours (part of the My 1st Years group) might be for you! As part of the wider creative team, you’ll be working to tight deadlines in a fast-paced business, creating beautifully cohesive product ranges for our growing customer base.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

As Home & Gifting Designer your key responsibilities are:

  • Experience in researching/identifying new and commercial trends and opportunities in home and gifting for all occasions.
  • The creation of cohesive and coordinated design looks across home and gifting.
  • Ability to work with colour, pattern and typography on home and gifting products.
  • Designing for all our customer styles.
  • Excellent organisation and planning, to deliver to deadlines and critical paths.
  • Excellent hit rate - design to sample and design to sales.
  • Work within the trading needs of the business, identifying and designing into new and existing opportunities.
  • Create clear findings and actions from inspirational shopping.
  • A passion for design.


Skills and Knowledge

As Home & Gifting Designer you would be expected to have the following skills and knowledge:

  • Extensive market and aspirational gifting knowledge.
  • In-depth knowledge and experience designing home and gifting products.
  • Excellent free hand drawing and Adobe Suite skills.
  • Wide understanding of customer styles, with the ability to challenge and stretch product opportunities.
  • Excellent presentation skills for trend/mood boards that are clear and have creative flair.
  • Good communication skills, clear, concise and dynamic.
  • Accomplished range-building skills, challenging and balancing newness and commerciality.
  • Creation of detailed specification documents for accurate briefing to manufacturers.
  • Liaising with key buying, merchandising and technical teams to realise briefs.
  • Commercially astute to ensure that creative designs hit the wider business goals.
  • An understanding of how to design products that will look great online.
  • Able to maintain a high level of creativity and quality execution when working under pressure and to tight deadlines.

Location: You will be based in our office in Northampton where we are operating a hybrid model of 2-3 days in the office and 2-3 days from home. Flexibility around this will be required when necessary.
