Job description

BASED IN NORTH AND SOUTH KIRKLEES

Social Care is at the heart of our communities, providing care and support for vulnerable people at various stages of their lives and for a variety of reasons. It is challenging and demanding work, yet ultimately rewarding as you can directly make a difference to the quality of a persons’ life and their day-to-day experiences.

Kirklees Council are recruiting Home Support Workers in the Short Term and Urgent Support Teams. The teams provide a range of services to adults living in their own homes in partnership with health colleagues. All of our services have a re-ablement ethos and aim to provide support which helps people to be as independent as possible.

What Kirklees STUST can offer you:

  • Uniform provided
  • Full payment of contracted hours including training
  • A comprehensive, extensive training and induction programme
  • Six-month probationary period
  • Monthly mileage payments (using claim form)
  • Funding and support to complete Care Certificate
  • Ongoing training and supervision
  • Direct support during working hours including Out of Hours
  • Career development and progression
  • Paid DBS
  • Access to Kirklees employee benefits

It is essential that you have a high level of understanding of Adult Social Care.

You must be able to demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional training and development and possess a basic awareness of both health and safety issues and food hygiene.

You will be expected to read the Care Plans and other documents such as risk assessments to ensure you can support people safely and record how you have supported them on the daily recording sheets.

It is challenging and demanding work, yet ultimately rewarding as you can directly make a difference to the quality of a persons’ life and their day-to-day experiences.
