One of the UKs fastest growing housing support services is recruiting in Stoke for a dedicated and compassionate Homeless Support Worker to work with service users and third parties to maximise the support clients receive and help them achieve independent living.
The Service
This Homeless Support Worker role is based in a housing service in Stoke, which provides housing related independent living support to service users who are either homeless, or at risk of homelessness, supporting them in daily tasks and prompting them to live as independently as possible with a view to moving on to fully independent living.
The role will be working across services in the ST3, ST4 and ST6 post code areas.
The Role
The focus of this Homeless Support Worker role is to working and engaging with the service users assisting them with daily tasks, life skills, and fostering independence.
You will be working with service users on a 2 to 1 basis, with another Homeless Support Worker and the role will include the following tasks and responsibilities:
Maximising access to benefits and sustaining tenancies
Working with third-parties to ensure adequate support is provided
Assist with daily living skills, activities, and routines to promote independence.
Engage with other clients in the property, providing support and encouragement.
Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all residents.
Document and report on the progress, needs, and concerns of clients.
Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure comprehensive care.
Adhere to all policies, procedures, and regulations governing the provision of support services.
The Candidate
To be considered for this Homeless Support Worker role, you will require previous housing support experience including:
Empathetic and patient, with a genuine desire to make a positive impact on the lives of others.
Prior experience in a similar support role or relevant background in social care.
Knowledge of best practices in providing care, support, and guidance to individuals with unique needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and colleagues.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.As the role is working with vulnerable individuals, you will also require an Enhanced DBS check.
The Contract
This is a permanent, full time Homeless Support Worker role, working 09:00 - 17:00 Monday to Friday, offering a salary of £21,840 to £24,050
