Homelessness Prevention Officer

Tate Recruitment are delighted to be working alongside a local authority business located in Brighton. We are recruiting for a Homelessness Prevention Officer to join their team within their Housing department.

  • 3 month contract
  • Full time
  • Remote working available

The Role:

  • As a Homelessness Prevention Officer, you will be giving advice and support on accessing housing, assessing people's circumstances to determine what rights they have and ultimately working to help people find somewhere to live.
  • To support this, you will have a strong knowledge of the main causes for homelessness and remedies available. You will also have a thorough understanding of the legislative framework from which we work and be able to apply this in your day-to-day work.
  • Carry out assessments and pursue enquiries in respect of homelessness applications to the point of recommending a decision, communicating the decision to the applicant within required time scales.

The Team:

The team you will be working in consists of other Homeless Prevention officers working both in the office and remotely.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of the housing issues affecting residents and solutions both locally and nationally.
  • Experience of providing advice on prevention of homelessness and implementing relevant homeless legislation.
  • Knowledge and understanding of housing legislation including homeless legislation and guidance.
  • Experience of writing complex homeless decision letters.
