Homeroom Teacher

Job Description

• Teachers are expected to use a model lesson approach to the planning, preparation and teaching of lessons, to improve the educational outcomes for all students.
• All teachers will be assigned to a professional learning team to support and continue their own improvement and growth. This will be led by an instructional leader and expert teacher. Teachers will participate in staff professional learning in school teams after normal school hours.
• Teachers are expected to know their students and personalize learning in classrooms to, support all students improve.
• Teachers will work collaboratively with their colleagues to improve teaching and learning and use multiple sources of feedback to inform their professional goals for the academic year.

The core accountabilities are:

• Uses the model lesson approach to plan lessons and implement a range of strategies to improve student learning outcomes.
• Assesses students using the school's assessment framework and reports on student progress at the expected times.
• Participates in planning, implementation and review of the curriculum.
• Works as part of a team of teachers to differentiate the teaching and personalize the learning for students to improve student outcomes.
• Integrates information communication technology strategies into the teaching and learning program to improve the engagement of students in learning.
• Other duties as directed by the Principal.

Skills

• Minimum of 1 year experience.
• BA in Education is desired.
• PGCE required
• Use of a range of teaching practices and resources that engages students in effective learning.
• Demonstrated classroom teaching skills that create and maintain a challenging and safe learning environment.
• Demonstrated ability to know how students learn and plan and assess for effective learning.
