Horticultural Manager/Grower

Madisons Recruitment are currently seeking a Horticultural Manager/Grower for a client of ours based in Essex.

Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role as a Horticultural Manager/Grower located in Nazeing, Essex. The Horticultural Manager/Grower will be responsible for supervising the horticultural program, managing the plant inventory, and ensuring the quality of the plants and products. The Horticultural Manager/Grower will also plan and coordinate planting schedules, harvest schedules, and manage the production forecast.

Qualifications/experience required:

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience managing a horticulture program in a commercial greenhouse or nursery.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well with peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
• Ability to supervise and manage a team of horticultural workers, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
• Excellent knowledge of growing techniques, including propagation, transplanting, pruning, fertilising, and pest control.
• Experience with quality control, plant inventory management, and production forecasting.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Computer proficiency, including MS Office and specialised software used in horticulture or agriculture.
• Knowledge of organic certification, sustainable agriculture practices, and certifications preferred.
