Monday to Friday, 6am-8pm - £12.00 per hour paye inclusive of holiday pay
Monday to Friday, 8pm-6am and Saturdays - £13.00 per hour paye inclusive of holiday pay
Sunday and Bank Holidays - £17.00 per hour paye inclusive of holiday pay
Working Days and Hours: Monday to Sunday, Various shifts, 37.5 hours

Job Summary
The post-holder will be expected to work as an integrated member of the Portering Team under the direction of the Supervisory Team. It is essential that tasks be carried out in a safe, timely and appropriate manner, which will assist, and complement the provision of patient care
Duties
- General portering duties within York Hospital using the appropriate form of transportation that includes movement of patients/bodies, delivery and collections of bloods/specimens, gas cylinders, attends Entonox bank and other equipment of a routine and non routine nature.
- Ensure all appropriate forms of documentation are used in line with Trust policies and procedures and legislations.
- Maintain and clean all types of portering related equipment.
- Ensure that the hospital is a safe, clean and tidy environment at all times.
- Lock down procedures for internal / external doors to the hospital site.
- To assist new recruits through mentoring.
- Transportation of wheelchairs and modular equipment / furniture from around hospital site.
- Collection and movement of waste materials.
- To ensure the security of patients, visitors, staff, equipment and Trust premises responding to calls for security when required.
- Where appropriate prioritise workload to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Respond on the activation of the fire alarm and investigate, meeting the fire brigade and escorting them to the scene.
- Deploy and assist emergency services and agencies where appropriate including during MAJAX incidents.
- This Job Description is not exhaustive; the post holder will be required to be flexible according to the needs and resources of the Directorate and may be requested to undertake other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
Experience, Skills and Qualification
- English & Maths GCSE or equivalent
- NVQ Level 1 in customer service or equivalent
- Previous experience of a customer service role
