Hourly Paid Lecturer

Grade: HPL1, £48.53 per direct teaching hour. This includes the following elements: teaching, preparation and marking of the scheduled programme of work (Flat rate of £19.41 will be paid for completing one of the above elements of the schedule.)

About the Role

We are seeking to recruit lecturers who are available to work during the academic year and will be paid on an hourly basis to teach in the following subjects within the BA (Hons) Design for Theatre and Live Performance:

  • Design practice including research, ideation and scale model making, digital renders including 2D and 3D artwork, technical drawing and presentation skills
  • Production skills including construction, scenic art, LX/ VFX, prop making, puppetry, costume and installation artwork

You will work under the direction of the Principal Lecturer/Course Leader in delivering high quality teaching and learning to undergraduate and/or postgraduate students. Duties will include preparation, delivery, and marking where required. You will be expected to deliver lectures and run seminars and tutorials, taking responsibility for issuing feedback, guidance, and pastoral care.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate ideas of a complex or technical nature to students effectively using a variety of teaching methods both face-to-face and online. You should have a detailed knowledge of Theatre and Live Events Design Practice and/or construction, Digital software skills and associated skills in Production through significant teaching, and/or industry experience.
