JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Housing Support Worker
Project and Location: Housing Support for Young People in the North Down and Ards Area.
Reports to Project Manager
Main Purpose of Job: To provide Housing Support to Young People (18-25) in the Community
Housing Support for Young People supports young people (aged 16-25) to access and maintain accommodation in the community. Support can be provided for up to 2 years depending on the needs of the Service User.
Main Job Tasks
- Provide housing related support to a case load of young people living in the community.
- Supporting to find alternative accommodation for those who need it when required.
- Helping to set up new homes or ensure current home is fit for purpose and provide hands on practical support.
- Visit young people in their homes providing support for all issues young people face.
- Always maintain a Person-Centered approach ensuring that young people have the necessary information they need to make informed decisions.
- Liaising with other agencies.
- Encourage and support service users to engage in their local community.
- Have an interest in working with young people.
- Are interested in social care.
- Have a compassionate approach to working with people with a variety of needs.
- Are resilient and practice self -care.
- Are organised and manage their time effectively.
- Demonstrate written and verbal communication skills.
- Manage a case load of service users.
- Enjoy working independently and as part of a caring supportive team.
- Have a willingness to learn new skills.
- To be available to work at times appropriate to the changing needs of the Service Users. This may include (on occasion) working outside normal hours.

PERSON SPECIFICATION – HOUSING SUPPORT WORKER
EXPERIENCE
- Experience supporting people
- GCSE English Language (or equivalent)
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a full driving license. (Business Insurance will be required)
- Caring and compassionate.
- Empathetic and non-judgmental.
- Approachable and ready to listen.
- Trustworthy.
- Respectful.
- Be a voice for young people.
Duration: Permanent
Hours: 35 hours per week, (and may on occasion include evenings and weekends)
Flexible working: Ability to start work between 8am-10am and finish between 4pm-6pm.
Salary: £20,151.95 - £21,507.29 per annum (BCM salary scale point 19-21).
Holidays: Based on 21 days per annum plus 12 Public Holidays.
Probation Period: Six months.
Access NI: This post requires that a check must be carried out under the requirements off Access NI Enhanced Disclosure. This will involve a full criminal records check which will show spent and unspent convictions, cautions, cases pending and any other relevant information.
QCF Level 2: Should funding become available you may have the opportunity to undertake QCF Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
NISCC: You will be required to attain (if not already attained) registration with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council.
