What does this team do?

Our HR Helpdesk supports colleagues by provide high quality advice and guidance over any issue they might be having. By joining us, you’ll be the first point of contact for our customer queries via phone, web chat and email.
We give:


  • Expert advice and guidance.
  • Admin support, including reward and payroll, onboarding processes, maternity/paternity/adoption, flexible working and other general admin.
  • System support so that payroll can be completed accurately and on time.
  • Support to wider projects and initiatives within HR Services.

What skills and academic qualifications do I need?
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
  • The ability to multitask across many processes and procedures, prioritising your workload to meet deadlines.
  • Experience of Word, Excel and Outlook is essential.
  • Use initiative to investigate queries and offer solutions.
  • Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced team environment.
  • This specific qualification requires you to be a minimum 18 years old by the time you start this role.

How will I develop?

  • Service Delivery: you’ll deliver excellent customer service on a range of HR queries as well as providing solutions, advice and support primarily to managers. You’ll build up their expertise in HR matters and help them meet KPIs in line with company policy, values and standards. You’ll plan and organise their work, often without direct supervision, to meet their commitments and KPIs.
  • Problem Solving: you’ll use questioning and active listening skills to understand what’s the problem and what’s needed. You’ll take ownership of an issue through to resolution, often dealing with complex situations.
  • Communication & Interpersonal: you’ll deal effectively with customers/colleagues, using your interpersonal skills as well as different media e.g. phone, face-to-face, email, internet. You’ll build trust and good relationships with customers. You’ll handle conflict and sensitive HR situations professionally and confidentially.
  • Teamwork: you’ll work collaboratively within the team and HR.
  • Process Improvement: you’ll identify opportunities to improve HR performance, and act on them. You’ll support the introduction of HR changes/projects within the business.
  • Managing HR Information: you’ll help maintain HR records, and prepare reports & management information from HR data.
  • Personal Development: you’ll keep up to date with business and HR legal/policy/process changes.
