Location: Based at Cireco Park (but will be required to travel to other facilities within Fife and further afield as required)

Salary: FC9 £42,686.23 – £51,302.31 (£22.74 - £27.33 ph.)*

Status: Permanent

*2024 pay award pending

We are a Fife Council company formed as an “Arms Length External Organisation” (ALEO). Our mission is to deliver best value sustainable waste and resource management services on behalf of Fife Council and to make Fife the resource management hub for Scotland.

We employ over 200 people within Fife to undertake these activities and handle over 300,000 tonnes of waste and recyclable materials per year. We operate: Material Recovery Facilities; an Anaerobic Digestion Plant, Aerobic composting operations, 11 household waste recycling centres, around 300 multi-material recycling points, fuel production, landfill gas recovery, combined heat & power plant, district heating, active landfill sites, closed landfill sites, leachate treatment facilities and all the associated logistics and support for these business operations. We provide high quality waste management and resource management services to national and local public sector, commercial and domestic clients. Helping Fife Council and our customers in creating and delivering sustainable solutions to the challenges they face.

Job Details

We are seeking an experienced and skilled HR Lead Officer to join our team in a fast-paced and interesting commercial environment.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer you will have extensive and up to date employment law and case management knowledge and expertise. This role will be responsible for delivering all aspects of HR management across the organisation, by managing both strategic and day-to-day operational matters, as well as supporting and coaching managers in the deployment of sickness absence, disciplinary, grievance and performance management procedures. You will be required to develop policies, write reports and present to the Board or at other stakeholder meetings on a regular basis. An excellent and confident communicator you will be required to successfully manage some difficult employer stakeholder relationships to achieve positive outcomes for the business.

The Person

You must have experience in a similar role in a busy and complex HR environment or be able to demonstrate you can work at this level. Educated to degree level or equivalent in a related field, you will have Chartered Member status of the CIPD. We will require copies of educational certificates and professional institute membership status if invited for interview.

In addition, you must be able to demonstrate the ability to:

  • work collaboratively and maintain effective working relationships with managers and other stakeholders e.g. Trade Unions, national working groups.
  • coach managers/supervisors in all aspects of HR practices.
  • manage a high and demanding workload, to prioritise and organise work and to respond quickly to changing demands.
  • manage conflicting priorities and take an analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to determine creative and practical solutions
  • research, develop and implement bespoke solutions to emerging HR issues, often in conjunction with Fife Council key personnel
  • Work effectively as part of a team as well as being a self-starter.
