Health & Safety Advisor / Engineer
Job Overview
The H&S Engineer will lead, provide support and deliver health and safety advice to all departments.
The post holder will identify, assess and manage H&S risks and requirements for all internal and external activities, ensuring that safe processes produce a high-quality product.
Responsibilities
• Provide proactive support, guidance, and solutions to the Company in compliance with statutory requirements and company standards.
• Accident & near miss reporting and investigations.
• Maintaining COSHH system and records
• Produce and maintain risk assessments.
• Provide for development and maintenance of H&S systems and documentation.
• Ensure the implementation of new standards.
• Proactively work with operational teams to ensure that H&S is considered at all stages and that relevant control measures are identified.
• Carry out internal audits.
• Liaising with authorities and external agencies as necessary.
• Keeping up to date with new legislation and best practices in the industry.
• Investigating incidents where required and producing detailed factual reports identifying root causes and recommendations for improvement.
• Produce internal & external H&S alerts.
• Organising and delivering in-house H&S training.
• Production of reports for the Board of Directors
• Conducting Health and safety walks – raising any observations to Management.
• Conducting Fire checks – Weekly alarm checks
• Work with Contractors and Suppliers to ensure H&S requirements met.
• Organising external inspections – LOLER, Pressure vessels, Pat testing, Fixed wiring, Fire risk assessments.
• Specifying PPE
• Provide cover for the SHEQ Adviser as and when required
• Any other duties not listed commensurate with the requirements of the business.
Occasional supplier visits may be required.

• Excellent IT skills with the ability to use Microsoft Packages such as Outlook, Word,
Excel, Teams, Powerpoint etc.
Desirable:
• NEBOSH certificate
• IOSH certificate
• Current ISO 45001 internal audit qualification
• EFACS MRP system knowledge
Qualifications
• Educated to graduate or professional level, or equivalent experience
• HSE Qualifications
