Role Purpose
Support in the development, implementation and maintenance of the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental policies, processes, operational procedures, and standards. Ensuring best practice and championing a continually improving HSE culture within the business.
Engaging and influencing key stakeholders both within and outside the business this role includes liaising with and reporting, where required, to external regulatory bodies and ensuring we maintain high levels of compliance to employees, customers, and regulatory organisations. A sound working knowledge of Environmental and Health & Safety legislation is key.
Key Responsibilities
Provide support to all areas of the business to eliminate, mitigate or reduce identified HSE exposures.
Liaise with departments to ensure that HSE requirements are maintained.
Support the maintenance and implementation of HSE policies, procedures and documents to effectively manage risk and opportunities across the business.
Support with the delivery of toolbox talks, internal training, tours and inspections.
Own and champion the use of the new EHS system, monitoring reports and identifying trends and appropriate corrective action as required.
Undertake, update and maintain business wide risk assessments, as required, including DSEAR, Noise, dust and fire.
Coordinate accident and incident management ensuring root cause is identified and corrective actions are agreed with relevant persons.
Provide advice, guidance and solutions in line with legislative requirements.
Update waste records to ensure that Duty of Care is maintained.
Perform operational site and premises inspections and audit, ensuring they are undertaken to schedule.
Participate in ISO 14001 audits.
Working alongside the HR and HSE Administrator monitor PPE and first aid stock levels and review to ensure the provisions are fit for purpose.
Provide MI on Health, Safety and Environmental data, as required by the Head of People and Governance.
Support with the management of contractors across CMD sites.
Participate in Health, Safety and Environmental committee meetings, identifying areas for improvement and supporting any follow-up activities, as required.
Support the annual health surveillance programme, working alongside the HR team, identifying trends and defining corrective actions as required.
Any other reasonable requests that fall within the scope of Health, Safety and Environment.

Experience, Qualifications and Role Specification Skills
Education / Qualification
Essential
NEBOSH or similar qualification in Health and Safety.
Desirable
IEMA qualified.
Auditor qualified.
ILM or other leadership qualification.
Work Experience
Essential
Experience in a similar role, ideally in a manufacturing environment.
Previous experience in supporting the implementation of HSE management systems.
Experience reporting to and liaising with key stakeholders.
Up to date knowledge of both ISO certification processes and HSE legislation.
Desirable
Experience in a multi-site environment.
Experience reporting Health and Safety KPIs.
