Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Aberdeen, is currently looking to recruit a Health Safety and Environmental Manager for an initial 4 month contract on a rate of £23.07/hour PAYE, 37 hours. This role will be a hybrid of working at home and in the office.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for all health and safety matters across the organisation, identifying and responding to current legal and best practice requirements.
- Build and develop strong working relationships with managers, staff and appropriate external partners.
- Provide appropriate HSE advice, guidance and support to managers and staff at all levels.
- Ownership and development of the HSE management system, ensuring its effectiveness and that it is implemented consistently, undertaking audits and ensuring action plans are established to address issues identified.
- Audit, analyse and report environmental performance to internal and external clients and regulatory bodies.
- Management and ownership of the Business Continuity Plan to maintain organisational resilience in areas of significant impact.
- Developing KPIs, monitoring and reporting to HSE Committees and other internal and external parties.
- Source, implement, deliver and assess HSE training to allow organisational competence on HSE matters.
- Maintain the incident database, monitor preventative actions, trends and lessons learned.
- Development of the yearly HSE plan, delivering the agreed aims and objectives of the plan.
Essential Skills:
- A strong track record delivering positive outcomes in a Health, Safety and environmental (HSE) management environment.
- An ability to manage change and moving deadlines both on a personal and work level, working in a high profile, faced paced and demanding environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with the ability to work with health, safety and environmental management systems and HSE legislation.
- The individual must be highly proficient in both verbal and written communication to deliver effectively on HSE aspects with clear and accurate information.
- NVQ Level 6 qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (or similar).
- NVQ Level 6 qualification in Environmental Management (or similar).
Desirable Skills:
- An ability to lead on the development of and build procedural controls relating to legislative compliance and continual improvement.
- A focus on adaptation to ensure effective management, acceptance and implementation of change.
