About Haventus
Haventus is the owner of Ardersier Port. We transform traditional ports into energy transition facilities, accelerating our energy future.
Ardersier Port is a 450-acre facility near Inverness in Scotland and one of the largest brownfield ports in the UK. Following the Initial Investment of GBP300m in April 2023, a major redevelopment programme at Ardersier Port has commenced. The construction programme and future operational needs of the port are going to have a substantial impact on the local economy and has the potential to create hundreds of jobs and reskilling opportunities for the local community, the wider energy transition sector in Scotland and around the world.

Key Responsibilities


Regulatory Compliance

  • Keep up to date with UK health and safety regulations relevant to the construction and port industries.
  • Assist the management team to ensure that all construction and marine activities carried out at the Port comply with these regulations.

Safety Protocols

  • Develop, implement and enforce safety processes and procedures.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.


Risk Assessments

  • Identify potential hazards, assess risks, and develop strategies to mitigate risks and improve safety.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for construction and marine activities.

Occupational Health

  • Liaise with colleagues and managers to ensure Occupational Health processes are in place and kept up to date. This includes health surveillance, drug & alcohol testing and medical escalations where required.
  • Assess Occupational Health questionnaires to identify any next steps to support safe operations.

Training and Education

  • Provide training and education to colleagues on safety protocols, procedures and best practices.
  • Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings and training sessions to promote awareness and understanding of safety requirements.


Incident Investigation

  • Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses on site.
  • Identify root causes, corrective actions and develop action plans to prevent similar incidents in the future.


Promotion of Safety Culture

  • Promote a culture of safety throughout the company.
  • Encourage open communication, active participation, and accountability for safety among all colleagues.


Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, audits, incidents and corrective actions.
  • Prepare reports and documentation as required by departments and the management team.


Emergency Response

  • Support departments with their emergency response plans for the Port.
  • Facilitate and execute emergency response exercises.


Skills

  • HSEQ Knowledge: The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and standards relevant to the industry.

They will hold professional qualifications and experience in HSEQ including:
o NEBOSH General Certificate or NVQ level 3 (minimum)
o Auditor experience (ISO standards)
o Risk Assessor
o Membership of a professional body

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for the role. The HSEQ Advisor will work alongside internal stakeholders to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Proactive Approach & Problem Solving: A proactive approach is required to continuously spot opportunities for improvement in the safety space. Quick and effective problem-solving skills will help to address any safety issues which may arise.
  • Time Management: Effective time management skills and the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail is essential to ensure accurate assessing of hazards, implementation of control measures and record keeping.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: The energy transition sector is dynamic and can involve rapid changes. A successful HSEQ Advisor needs to be adaptable and flexible, adjusting priorities to accommodate unforeseen circumstances or changes.
  • Technology Proficiency: Experience in using HSEQ systems and being proficient in Office 365 is essential to maintaining accurate HSEQ records.
    The HSEQ Advisor will be meticulous and proactive in their role to ensure safety is a top priority across the Port. They will be responsible for supporting the HSEQ Manager to achieve the company s safety goals whilst ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety throughout all construction and marine Port activities.
    The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction and marine safety practices, excellent communication skills and a passion for promoting a safe work environment.
